Factual information Factual information is that which can be verified by others, either from published sources or by examining the site. For instance: If the geological information shows that there is running sand under part of the site, then the site planner can be definite in saying that no large buildings can be built there without additional costs for more expensive foundations. If the hydrological information (that which relates to surface and ground water) shows that an area is regularly subject to flash flooding, then the site planner can say definitely that the main access road should not be located there, unless the agency funding the development of the site can find extra money for flood prevention.

Chapters 4, 5 and 6 present the background to making a data base for such a project and Part Five lists the information to be gathered by the site planner. The system illustrated in Part Five will work, whether the project is done independently for the individual’s own benefit, or as part of a course requirement.
