As in The Cannibals, Delbo seems to validate the final choice reserved to concentrate camp prisoners, that of suicide. By that action, Gina refuses to give assent to the inhumanity of her enemies, despite the recognition that it will have no effect on the agenda of death the Nazis are committed to carrying out.

The twenty-two women prisoners who are incarcerated in Auschwitz at the beginning of Charlotte Delbo's Who Will Carry The Word? are in a situation similar to their Trojan ancestors. Slowly decreased by murder and suicide in the course of Delbo's play, their situation is postexilic, that is, after the deportation. The play begins with the orphanage children performing a little play about Poland's King Casimir, who, despite counsel to the contrary, is determined to protect Poland's Jewish population.
