2 Context of Use 29  The technical environment  The physical environment Usability can be assessed only after the context of use has been specified. Therefore a context-of-use analysis is sometimes referred to as usability context analysis. The context-of-use analysis is an important phase in the usercentred design process of interactive applications (ISO 13407 1999). In a context-of-use analysis the requirements and constraints of using the application are identified. For iTV applications, only very few publications analysing the context of use are available.

According to this classification the BBC distinguishes between ‘‘schedule-busting services’’ and ‘‘engaging services’’. Each class is split up into two subclasses (Somerville 2004).
