As an executive coach, I have had many professionals in their thirties come to me, say that they want a promotion, and ask me to help guide them in this endeavor. A client of mine, Mario, in particular was very anxious to move up in his organization. The first questions that I asked him were: ● If I were to ask your boss to describe you in three words, what would he or she say? STRENGTHS: WHO ARE YOU? 25 ● If I asked your boss’s boss the same question, what would he or she say?

Peeling back these layers will reveal for you that when you truly know yourself and you have unmistakable clarity on who you are and what your value is, then you become a highly effective business professional, and your Inner Leader will be unleashed. YOU AND YOUR INNER LEADER CHAPTER SUMMARY ● This book is the culmination of the real-life experiences that my clients have faced: They have unleashed their Inner Leader to live their legacies and develop into world-class leaders. ● Part One is dedicated to getting to know yourself, because only when you know yourself can you begin to lead others and help others make their own impact.

Exercise 1: To discover your strengths, ask 20 colleagues how they would describe you, and then cull the results down to three words. ● Exercise 2: Develop and say your strengths statements at least once a day so that in six months your team will use your words to describe you. ● Exercise 3: Develop a personal awareness of when you best leverage your strengths, and resolve to do more of that.
