They are the heart and the soul of the organization. Their inspiration, vision, and values spread to the rest of the organization. As we know, this type of behavior or leadership style has not always been the norm. For many leaders in profit-oriented organizations, the modus operandi was simply to increase revenue, decrease expenses, and raise the profit margin. Redirecting the organization and its operating philosophy to a more balanced humanistic and financial vision and style is a recent occurrence.

In organizations with 5,000 or less employees, the high and low factors were the same. For those organizations with 10,000 to 49,000 employees, profitability remained high.

Three level-1 good ratings were from companies with 20,000 or fewer employees, and all had increased revenue and profits for 1996. " But, it appears that more effort needs to be put into developing the people who are moving up the management track. In response to the second half of the question on the leaders' readiness for the future, the average numbers were very similar to the current ratings.
